A big thank you to Miss Diane for demonstrating how to make
delicious hummus!
Ingredients
- 1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed
- 1⁄4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame butter) or peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 shakes salt
Tools
can opener
colander
large spoon
1-gallon sturdy resealable plastic bag
medium mixing bowl
measuring spoons
Directions
- Use the can opener to open the can of chickpeas. Put the colander in the sink and put the chickpeas in the colander to drain off the liquid.
- Use the large spoon to put the chickpeas in the plastic bag. Push the air out of the bag and seal it.
- Pound, mash, and squish the bag with your hands and fingers until the chickpeas are well squished. Spoon the squished chickpeas into the bowl.
- Add the lemon juice, olive oil, garlic powder and salt to the bowl. Stir well with the spoon.
- Feel free to add additional spices to make different flavors of hummus. Serve your scrumptious hummus with pita chips.
