Hummus Anyone?

A big thank you to Miss Diane for demonstrating how to make
delicious hummus!

Ingredients

  • 1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed
  • 1⁄4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame butter) or peanut butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 shakes salt

Tools

can opener

colander

large spoon

1-gallon sturdy resealable plastic bag

medium mixing bowl

measuring spoons

Directions

  1. Use the can opener to open the can of chickpeas. Put the colander in the sink and put the chickpeas in the colander to drain off the liquid.
  2. Use the large spoon to put the chickpeas in the plastic bag. Push the air out of the bag and seal it.
  3. Pound, mash, and squish the bag with your hands and fingers until the chickpeas are well squished. Spoon the squished chickpeas into the bowl.
  4. Add the lemon juice, olive oil, garlic powder and salt to the bowl. Stir well with the spoon.
  5. Feel free to add additional spices to make different flavors of hummus. Serve your scrumptious hummus with pita chips.
