#1 Compulsively Charging Your Devices
The lithium-ion batteries in your devices are dying, one charge cycle at a time. Yes, each recharge essentially burns away some of the battery's internal chemical processes. That steady march towards obsolescence can be slowed, though, by knowing when to pull the plug.
Phones and tablets that get a compulsive, 5 percent burst of power from a car charger or workplace outlet still lose a full cycle, and laptops that stay plugged into the wall are steadily eating through cycles, while also heating those batteries, further shortening their lifespans. To stave off the inevitable, charge devices to full, run them close to empty, and repeat.
