We are incredibly excited to have author Gina Linko perform a live reading from her new book, Indigo! In addition to this super special event, we will also have raffles for a copy of Indigo, a paperback of Flutter, and an iPod shuffle. Need to Make a Treat for Halloween?

Here's a delicious idea for you to try...

1 box white cake mix (or other flavor)

Water, vegetable oil and egg whites or eggs called for on cake mix box

Betty Crocker® orange gel food color

2 containers Whipped fluffy white frosting

1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker® black decorating gel

Plastic spiders (for decoration)

Mix and bake cake mix as directed on box for 24 cupcakes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

On large round platter or pizza pan, arrange cupcakes, placing them close together. In medium bowl, mix food color and frosting. Spread frosting over cupcakes and spaces in between to create 1 large circle of frosting. Squeeze 1 large dot of black gel in center of frosting. With gel, draw concentric circles around the dot, spacing them about 2 inches apart. To create the web design, drag a toothpick from the center dot to the outer edge of the circle, about 12 times. Place plastic spiders on web. Store loosely covered.

Teens : use your super sleuths abilities to find items throughout the library and then take pictures to prove you were there! 

If possible, bring any device to snap a pic!  Could be a smart phone, iPad, digital camera, Nintendo DSi...

any device that can snap and save your pictures will work!

Prize awarded to individual or team that finds the most...the fastest!

2) Terrifying Tales Contest

Community Service Opportunities!

It's not too early to get started on racking up those community service hours for high school/college requirements.

 High school students who enjoy interacting with young children are encouraged to become a Preschool Pal! 

Assist Youth Services librarians in presenting and maintaining an interactive preschool area to the 

library's youngest patrons.

Registration for November time slots starts 

Saturday, October 5 at 9am!

You will help out in toddler/pre-school area in Youth Services.

Great opportunity to get observation hours/community service for teens who may be interested in

 early childhood teaching or psychology!

Tom Clancy 

1947-2013

Tom Clancy, whose high-tech, Cold War thrillers such as "The Hunt for Red October" and "Patriot Games" made him the most widely read and influential military novelist of his time.

Clancy also wrote a YA Series called Net Force.  Net Force is aimed at an adult audience, while the related series Net Force Explorers (which follows the adventures of a teen auxiliary of the Net Force in 2025) is aimed at the older teen market.
